Background:
A member of the criminal organization Akatsuki, and an exceptionally talented Medical-Nin from Konohagakure.
Kuchinashi was once a shy and quiet young girl from Konohagakure, with no inherently special abilities or noteworthy traits. She was often teased by her peers for being a klutz and consistently frustrated at her inability to bring recognition to her family name, the Mochizuki clan, a family well known in Konohagakure for producing highly skilled and competent Medical-Nin. She was also one of the many children who lost their parents in the aftermath of the Third Shinobi World War, and was taken in by the elder Danzō Shimura in an act that many viewed as magnanimous kindness… Only to be revealed that his real reasons for doing so was anything but. It was during her time under his dubious care that she was subjected to the harsh experimentation and training that was used to produce blindly loyal members of Root - Incidentally, what made her such a perfect candidate for the treatment was the Mochizuki clan's Kekkei Genkai, Kuroihane no Fukkatsu (literally, "Black Feather Revival"). This special bloodline technique is unique in its ability to continuously revive the recently killed welder, no matter how severe the wounds inflicted onto her happen to be, at the cost of shortening the user's lifespan in accordance to the severity of the damage done to the body.
Personality:
Kuchinashi is a considerably calm (if not overtly cheerful) and incredibly polite young woman who often invokes an almost den mother like approach when dealing with her fellow Akatsuki members, best shown in the way she refers to everyone with the utmost respect and going out of her way to remind everyone not to fight amongst themselves. She has been known to posses inordinate amounts of patience and good humor, though she has been shown to display a considerably much darker and cynical view when talking about "those Konohagakure bastards", as well as a serious streak that tends to crop up when she is bringing a personal point across. While not particularly benevolent, she prefers gentle manipulation over brute force when dealing with people. Despite all this (or rather, because of this), she still carries insecurities from her childhood, and can be unsure of herself at times, in which case she uses her blinding belief in Tobi as a means of strengthening her resolve.
She tends to put on an air of elegant childishness almost all the time, and is increasingly dense when it comes to matters of the heart and her naivety involving the invasion of other peoples' personal space. She genuinely seems to enjoy taking care of her fellow Akatsuki members, and makes it a point to always greet everyone who returns to base with a smile, and to see everyone off as much as possible. Despite her less than hostile personality, she is still considered as a dangerous Missing-Nin, and because she is underestimated as a result, she has become adept at using the disarming effects of her bright personality to catch opponents off-guard when the situation presents itself.
According to Tobi, her main trait is a hidden self-loathing, and her own thoughts are void. She expresses a desire to find "love", but is quick to dismiss the notion by saying that such a thing is not "for someone like me." She has stated several times that the reason she joined Akatsuki in the first place was not because she wished for power, but because she believes in the goal of "no one", and wishes to see him accomplish it to the very end with her own eyes. She has also shown hostility towards those from Konohagakure, claiming they are naive and have little idea of what is truly going on within their own village.
Appearance:
Kuchinashi is most notable for her long, often times messy black hair and large, round yellow eyes, coupled with a pale complexion and a diminutive height that suggests she is much younger than she looks, though this is not the case. She is most often seen clad in the trademark Akatsuki robes, while she wears her forehead protector tied loosely around her neck. Beneath her robes she wears a black A-cut style top that reaches halfway down her thighs, black tights that end just below the hem of her top, thigh-high black stirrups, and standard ninja shoes in the color white. She also wears a single black glove on her right hand, and a fishnet tee under her A-cut top, with sleeves that reach just above her elbows.
After Tobi ceases wearing the Akatsuki uniform, she does the same, trading her standard clothing for a long sleeved black top with a high collar and sleeves that go past her hands, while the top itself goes past her knees, with a short sleeved mini jacket on top and dark colored shorts. She retains the same thigh-high stirrups and shoes, and single right hand glove. Her forehead protector still tied loosely around her neck, and she has the standard medical pouch slung across her hips.
Abilities:
Not much is known about Kuchinashi's fighting ability, as her role as a Medical-Nin often deliberately puts her out of fights way – Though it should be noted that she possesses a Kekkei Genkai which allows her revival upon death… But doing so causes a great strain on the body that does more harm than good in the long run. Despite this, she seems to show little to no consideration for her own well being, and will take an attack forthcoming if avoiding it will require more effort on her part, as well as stating in her own easy-going way, that she is searching for "an opponent strong enough to kill me." She is best known for her superior medical skills, which range from chakra manipulation to impromptu surgeries and everything in between, and her expert use of lightning techniques to stimulate chakra flow.

When presented with no other choice, she will fight with an assortment of lightning and wind based attacks, most notably her signature Lightning Release: Dance of Velvet Technique, so named for the fact she appears to be making electricity dance around her, leaving an almost velvet-like feeling on the skin; and her Wind Release: Perfect Area Technique, which forms a sort of barrier that serves to keep things from the outside from getting in, and things on the outside from getting out.

As a member of Akatsuki, she possesses a sharp wit and analytical intelligence that she often hides behind a smile, choosing to keep her mouth shut and feigning ignorance despite knowing what's going on around her. Despite this however, she can be considered as being intelligent only in terms of strategy and non emotional understanding, as her knowledge on things such as proper emotional decorum and social behavior often leave her looking like a small child seeking for approval. Partially because of her own unfortunate upbringing and mostly due to her loyalty towards Tobi, she prefers keeping her opinions and ideas to herself, though this does not seem to pose any significant problem for her, as everyone already assumes she is not in the know.
She also possesses enough common sense to be a pragmatic strategist and a decent tactician, as she is much more observant than one would expect. She's a sharp thinker capable of seeing through deceptions and lies, but often times chooses to play along with it to avoid a conflict of interest. She has a bad habit of over analyzing things on occasion, and despite her usually calm and composed demeanor, there are things in this world that can cause her to lose her cool – One of those things being any mention of her childhood in Konohagakure.
Despite all these book smart abilities, Kuchinashi has been shown to be a little slow on the uptake when it comes to things that fall under less straightforward matters, and has found herself in some socially awkward moments with other people because of this.
